Creamy Garlic Hummus
Hummus is a beloved Middle Eastern dip made primarily from blended chickpeas and tahini. Equipment
Food processor or high-speed blender
Ingredients
1 Can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 Tablespoons tahini
2 Tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
2 Cloves garlic
1/4 Cup water
1/4 Teaspoon smoked paprika
1/8 Teaspoon cumin
1/2 Teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1 Tablespoon olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Add the drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and salt in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
2. With the processor running, slowly add water until you reach your desired consistency. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides occasionally.
3. Taste your hummus and adjust the seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
4. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika or cumin if desired.
5. Serve and enjoy warm or chilled in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
NOTES
Serve with pita bread and fresh veggies, or use as a spread on sandwiches and dressing for salad.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
Experiment with additional flavors by adding roasted red peppers, herbs, or other spices
Top with olive oil or paprika for garnish or a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a crunchy texture.
