Busy mamas can find it tough to prioritize fun. Explore ways to stay healthy, reduce stress, and make lasting memories while traveling solo or with the family in tow.
Our First Family Vacation
Being an active duty military family until now, “WOOHOO retirement," and having in-home therapies over the years, our family vacations have somewhat been a bit limited. This year, however, we officially had our FIRST of many family vacations. This was our first time at LEGOLAND, Florida, and it was great. We celebrated my nephew's 7th birthday and stayed at the Pirate Island Resort, where we enjoyed the theme park for 3 full days! We had a blast and wanted to soak up as much of this fun experience as possible (That Florida Sun in your eyes is no joke lol 😎).
Lego Land Hotel
We chose to stay in the LEGOLAND Pirate Island hotel because it offered a fantastic deal. One of the wonderful perks is the complimentary hot breakfast, which was great because it also includes delicious vegan options. We had plant-based sausage and egg, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit, and so much more as our daily menu options. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the theme park, and there are plenty of fun amenities for children to enjoy inside and out of the rooms. They even really loved the elevators!
Peppa Pig Theme Park
The Peppa Pig-themed park is a standalone theme park located just a few steps outside the LEGOLAND Florida resort, designed especially for young children. As you could have guessed, it is based on the popular kid television show Peppa Pig. It was adorable and perfect for my little 2-year-old niece. She could run, play, sing, dance, and meet Peppa. Muddy Puddles Splash Pad was probably one of her favorite attractions, too lol isn't she adorable?
Water Park
For me, the water park was the highlight of the party. The Joker Soaker is an interactive play area filled with slides, water spouts, and a 300-gallon bucket that will undoubtedly have you drenched. The kids loved this area and could have stayed in the water park and wave pool all day. I admit it was super fun and just what we needed with thrills and plenty of cooling water on this hot Florida day. Outside of celebrating my nephew, this part alone was well worth the trip.
Theme Park
The theme park offers so many rides for children and adults alike. It is something here for everyone, and no one feels left out. Even the Grandparents got on some rides with the kids and had a good time. Some of our favorite rides were:
Battle of Bricksburg
Driving School
LEGO NINJAGO
Lost Kingdom Adventure
Mia’s Riding Adventure
And of course, the LEGO MOVIE Master of Flights and so much more!
Live Shows and 4D Movies
The Brickbeard's Water Sports Stunt Show was super exciting, with Fly Borards, water skiing, and much more.
The 4D movies are the perfect stop for getting out of the sun, relaxing, and having even more fun.
Meet the Characters
There are many delightful opportunities to meet characters around the park. For instance, you can visit Emmet's Super Suite to meet Emmet from the LEGO MOVIE.
Pirate River Quest
We embarked on an exciting adventure with a crew of LEGO pirates to explore the intriguing waters and seek to recover the lost treasure that a group of mischievous monkeys stole.
Cypress Gardens
The park also has a beautiful and historic botanical garden called Cypress Gardens, a horticultural masterpiece showcasing exotic plants from around the world.
Tips for Visiting Lego Land:
1. Mini Lego Figures- bring old Lego figures or buy some new ones before visiting the park.
2. Food and Snacks- Bring healthy foods and snacks inside the park. As a plant-based family, things can be limited for you to eat outside of fries, so I always pack a backpack full of healthy snacks and treats to hold us over until meal times.
3. Refills- Consider getting a LEGOLAND cup for unlimited refills! These cups are big, adorable, and a great way to stay cool and refreshed while you enjoy the park. You just buy the special LEGOLAND cup once and can refill it as many times as you like during your visit in the park.
4. Clothing- Wear water-appropriate clothes and shoes. My waterproof fanny pack was my favorite accessory on this trip. It kept all my contents dry, including my phone, while on rides and in the pool.
5. Accessibility- Last but not least, LEGOLAND offers excellent resort accessibility and support for those with special needs and different abilities. Be sure to inquire about the HERO Access Pass, which allows for one-time expedited access to each attraction and the opportunity to schedule additional return ride times for the guest assigned the pass and their party of up to six accompanying guests.
